Thoughts on Motherhood

I left my old job as a graphic designer for a new one in an entirely different field. Maybe I wasn’t the most qualified for the position since I had no experience to speak of. But I’ve learned a lot in the past few months and it seems that my new employer is happy with my work. She’s sometimes demanding: begging for my help at all hours of the night, always wanting to do lunch together (and all other meals, for that matter), and demanding I start work at indecent hours in the morning. In fact, she always wants me around. But I don’t mind. She makes great company.

True Love

It’s a sign of unconditional love when you think your child is cute even after she POOPS on your new white capris.

ER

Last night we had a little scare at our house. I had just fed my daughter and was heading out the door for yoga class when my husband said, “gross…she just spat up blood.” I was sort of scared. We tried to get some answers from books, online, and finally the on-call PA at my doctor’s office…all with no luck. So we went to the emergency room. They checked her vitals, took some blood, and took an X-ray, but aside from telling us our daughter would be just fine, they didn’t have any answers for us either. Two good things came from it though: 1) I was able to relieve my nerves , and 2) I got a free Diet Coke (or a very expensive Diet Coke, I suppose). A nice young man came by every half hour to see if we needed anything…blankets, snacks, cold beverages. Room service in the ER…it was great.
