Head on over to A Room Somewhere for another giveaway. This time it’s for little ones. I think my little girl would look adorable in these giraffe loafers.

Hair Epiphany

After a bad haircutting experience, I decided to go back to the salon this week and get my hair fixed. Luckily the new stylist knew what she was doing and did a great job. I’m so happy with my hair now…it’s exactly what I wanted in the first place. It was even worth the thirteen day delay because I learned something new while she was styling my hair.

This is probably old news to most people, but I learned that not all round brushes are the same. I had always tried using a flimsy $3 round brush that: 1) took forever since it couldn’t hold much hair, and 2) couldn’t get the waves out of my thick hair anyway. I had always assumed that’s how round brushes worked, when really that’s just evidence of a cheap brush.

I’ve learned what a difference a good brush makes! After getting my hair fixed, I headed straight to Sally’s and bought myself a round brush made with 100% Boars hair. The natural hair in the brush can hold lots of my thick wavy hair so it makes styling it super fast. I can use my new round brush to blow dry my hair straight, meaning no more flatiron! And since I chose one with a ceramic barrel, I get a slight curl at the ends which is perfect for my A-line cut. I don’t know if I’d say that this brush has changed my life, but it’s definitely made my mornings a whole lot easier.

Okay, I know I sound like a bad infomercial. But hopefully this will help anyone else who may be in my situation. So, if you’re looking for a good round brush, here’s what to look for:
Bristles: 100% boars hair
Barrel: ceramic for a little curl at the end, wooden for no curl
Diameter: at least 3″
Cost:$8 to $12
The end.

I got my hair cut yesterday. I could tell that the girl doing it wasn’t experienced, but I just let her do her thing.  Even when she didn’t style it the way I wanted I dismissed it, thinking my hair would look fine when I got home and did it myself. WRONG. My husband pointed out this whole section in the back that’s several inches longer than the rest! Blech. Now I have to weigh my options…do I suffer through an uneven haircut for a few weeks, letting it grow a bit before doing something about it (I don’t want it any shorter than it is), or do I go back to the salon immediately, try to get it evened out, and risk a super-short ‘do that I simply can’t do? Decisions, decisions.

This blog brings all my passions into one place to create a little harmony in my life. Enjoy.
